A take-home message from COVID-19 on urban air pollution reduction through mobility limitations and teleworking

چکیده
Abstract The rigorous traffic limitations during COVID-19 have forced many people to work from home, reaching an outstanding degree of teleworking and reduction in air pollution. This exceptional situation can be examined as a large-scale pilot test determine the potential improving urban quality through teleworking. Based on observed reductions lockdown Barcelona, we formulate socio-occupational scenarios, with various configurations teleworking, simulate them using chemistry transport model WRF-Chem multi-layer scheme. By intensifying 2, 3, 4 days week, averaged NO 2 concentrations are reduced by 4% (−1.5 μg m −3 ), 8% (−3 10% (−6 respectively, while O 3 increases moderately (up ). We propose that prioritized promoted effective contribution towards long-term pollution short-term peaks.

Teleworking Effect on Traffic and Air Pollution
Traffic congestion is one of the foremost problems confronted by the urban and suburban tenants of today. Traffic congestion increases vehicle emissions and degrades air quality. Urban planners and policy makers have consequently been always investigating choices to alleviate traffic congestion and to enhance air quality. Teleworking is one option that has received significant consideration and...

All life form on this planet depends on clean air. Air quality not only affects human health but also components of environment such as water, soil, and forests, which are the vital resources for human development. Urbanization is a process of relative growth in a country’s urban population accompanied by an even faster increase in the economic, political, and cultural importance of cities rela...
متن کاملChapter 17 Urban air pollution
Current scientific evidence, derived largely from studies in North America and Western Europe (NAWE), indicates that urban air pollution, which is derived largely from combustion sources, causes a spectrum of health effects ranging from eye irritation to death. Recent assessments suggest that the impacts on public health may be considerable. This evidence has increasingly been used by national ...

In response to the facts that some Asian developing countries were experiencing the fastest rate of industrialisation and urbanisation, several international initiatives called for a better and ‘sustainable’ urban management. Development of management tools including strategic environmental assessment (SEA), life cycle assessment (LCA), cost benefit analysis (CBA), and environmental managemen...
